Return to the pond and take the eastern path, which will bend south, then west. Check out the southern path and open the box in the small room it leads to for a Medical Herb. You will come to a pond with several paths surrounding it. Once inside the cave, move north, then turn when you hit a dead end. You should see a cave on the northeast tip of the peninsula on the other side of the bridge. Eventually you will come to a desert, keep moving east and cross the bridge. Walk east from Cannock Castle, staying north of the mountain range. Make sure you get to level 5 or 6 before setting out for the Fountain of Bravery. Talk to the king to save your game and buy an Antidote Herb or two if you don’t have any. The princess will tell you that he ventured out to the Fountain of Bravery. Talk to the princess in the northeast part of the castle and say “Yes” when she asks if you are friends with her brother. Proceed north from Leftwyne and you should see Cannock Castle by some hills and mountains. Set out for Cannock Castle to the north after you have finished exploring the town. Buying something from the tool shop may also award the player a Lottery Ticket. There isn’t much else in this town aside from a few NPCs, a healer, tool shop, and inn. Take some time to earn the money for the shield if you cannot afford it. While most of the gear for sale is probably out of your price range for now, the Leather Shield is only 90g and will give Midenhall a nice defense boost. There’s a weapon shop in the north end of town. Be sure to run from fights if you are below level 3 and have a Medical Herb on hand for this trip. You should see a patch of desert and a swamp (don’t step on the black swamp tiles) if you are going in the right direction. Head west along the coastline from Midenhall Castle to reach Leftwyne. It’s possible to fight slightly tougher monsters in the hills just north of the castle at level 2 if youur health is full, just be ready to run from larger groups. Remember that you can save your game by talking to the king, who will be back in the throne room. Stay close to the castle and fight the slimes that inhabit the area until Midenhall is level 3 or 4. You will need to level up a bit before setting out on your journey. A shop and inn are located by the entrance to the castle, buy a Medical Herb from the shop before you leave in case something goes wrong in battle or you accidentally stray into an area with powerful monsters. There are a number of services available here, but you can’t make use of them just yet. Equip the sword and have a look around the castle. Open the chest next to Prince Midenhall to receive a Copper Sword and 50g. For starters, the first hero (which is also the one the player names) will be called Midenhall in this walkthrough.įollow the king down the steps leading out of the throne room. Charlock Castle and Erdrick’s Sword (Optional) Special thanks to my friends Golden Torizio and Skater43 whose advice and contributions helped make this walkthrough possible!Ĭ. Thanks for using this guide and good luck! As a result, there are many ways to complete the game and I tried to find the safest order for new players to explore areas. Dragon Warrior II is open ended in that players can explore much of the world and visit most areas early on in the game. As a result, many of the unimportant sections of dungeons are bypassed or ignored, because they lead to items like Medical Herbs or small amounts of gold that are not very useful. It is also meant to be a simple, straightforward walkthrough that provides readers with direct routes to goals and important items. This guide was written specifically for the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Dragon Warrior II.
